Tangled Movie Review

Tangled: *** (out of 4)
Includes the voices of Zachary Levi, Mandy Moore, Donna Murphy and Ron Perlman.
Directed by Nathan Greno, Byron Howard. Approximately 100 minutes. Playing at
major theaters.

When I first saw the preview to Tangled, I have to say, it did not look like the greatest movie ever made. There was only one scene that I had laughed at. It had to do with a smolder. It was pretty funny. The rest of the preview was not very funny. I decided that I would probably see it at that moment.
But when I saw a second preview for the movie, I thought it looked dreadfully bad. It didn't look funny at all. I decided at that moment not to see it. But when it came out, I saw that it had gotten really good reviews. In the Toronto Star, it got a three out of four. In the Globe and Mail, it got four out of four. So, I decided to go see the movie because it was apparently so good. I have to say, it was really good.
Tangled tells the story of Rapunzel. See, before Rapunzel is born, the mom is very sick and these guards decide to find some object that will heal her. Meanwhile, there is an old lady (voiced by Donna Murphy) who finds a flower that has a bit of the sun in it and makes herself young. She decides to use that flower for herself to stay young. Yet, the guards find the flower, give it to the queen and she has a beautiful baby girl named Rapunzel. They have a great celebration where they send lanterns off into the sky.
However, that night, the old lady who is young again steals Rapunzel to keep her young, for Rapunzel had hair that could make the old lady young.
So, 18 years later, Rapunzel (voiced by Mandy Moore) is living in a castle with the old lady, and Rapunzel is wishing to leave, even if she loves the old lady very much.
There is another story in this movie. It follows a bandit (Zachary Levi) named Flynn Rider. He has stolen a crown, abandoned his fellow robbers and is now hiding out in the castle that Rapunzel is living in. Rapunzel knocks him out with a frying pan, ties him up with her hair and tells him to take her out of the castle. Flynn does this because if he takes her away, he will get his crown and the crown has been hidden from him. So, he takes Rapunzel and her pet chameleon away from the castle.
Now, this may sound like a predictable movie, but don't worry. It may be predictable, but that does not mean it isn't entertaining. It is entertaining.
It has exciting action scenes, interesting plot and good writing. Also, the supporting characters like a group of people who hang out at a bar and a horse are funny.
The music is not something that I would put on my iPod, I will tell you that. Also, it is not as good as other Disney movies like The Incredibles and Toy Story 3, but it still is a lot of fun.
Guys who are not like me will probably not like this movie as much because of the musical numbers and the romance, but girls will probably enjoy it. Guys who are like me will probably like this because: 1. It has action. 2. It's entertaining and 3. It is funny.

Why I Think The Film Industry Should Release A Second Percy Jackson Film

Earlier in the year of 2010, the film industry released a book adaptation of the Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan. It tells the story of a guy named Percy Jackson. He's a teenager, doesn't know where his dad is and is dyslexic. Not the best life ever, I know. But he finds out that he is the son of Poseidon, the god of water. But he also finds some other things out. He finds out his mom is gone, his best friend is a goat and if he doesn't return Zeus's lightning bolt by the Summer Solstice, bad things are going to happen. And that's just the plotline of the first movie! I had read the book before the movie came out and when I saw the movie, I was impressed. Yes, Grover (the goat friend) was not as good as he was in the book and one of the campers who was known by her blond hair in the book has black hair in the movie. But still, it was very exciting and entertaining. The author wrote many other Percy Jackson novels and I honestly hope that they make a movie out of the second book because the books and movies really are good!

Megamind Move Review

Megamind : *** (out of 4)
Including the voices of Will Ferrel, Tina Fey, Jonah Hill, David Cross and Brad Pitt.
Directed by Tom McGrath. Approximately 99 minutes long. Playing at major theaters. Rated PG.

When I first saw the preview for Megamind, I thought that it looked good. When I saw the second preview, I still thought it looked good. But one day, when I was half paying attention to a TV channel, an ad came up for it. Oh dear goodness. It was a terrible ad. It made the film look so stupid with a horrible rap they added in. Gosh darn it, I've said this before and I'll say it again, What is wrong with this world?!
But I saw the movie anyways and I have to say it was quite entertaining. And also, I found out a little more about it. Okay, so the film starts out with Megamind (later voiced by Will Ferrel) getting shipped off to Earth by his parents with a minyon (later voiced by David Cross) as his planet gets sucked into a blackhole of some sort. Then, along comes Metro Man (later voiced by Brad Pitt) who's planet was sucked in by a blackhole, too. He is the good guy, but Megamind is not. The movie shows a bit of their childhood. Metro Man grows up in a lovely house and everyone loves him, while Megamind grows up in prison and everyone hates him. Fast forward quite a few years later and Megamind has killed Metro Man. He blew him up with a sun ray. Now, Megamind has taken over the city and has stolen everything.
But the story doesn't stop there. The story also involves Megamind being lonely without someone to fight. So he decides to a take a cameraman named Hal (Jonah Hill) who works for a reporter named Roxanne (Tina Fey). Hal has a thing for Roxanne, but she doesn't. So, Megamind decides to take Hal and make him a hero named Titan. Pretty soon, though, Megamind realizes that it was a huge mistake because Titan turns from a geek to a jerk after Roxanne rejects him. From then on, Megamind wonders if he wants to be so bad after all and dare I say it, develops feelings for Roxanne?! ( dun dun dunh).
Megamind is not the best animated film I have ever seen, but it is very entertaining and the cast does a good job. The writers make good jokes and thankfully, there is no bad rapping. So, I say that this is worth seeing.

What I Think About 3D

In the past little while, a whole whack of movies have been in 3D. 3D is a cool concept, I will admit that. BUT, the film industry has gone overload on it. Come on! Almost every single movie that you see ads for is 3D. They might as well have just put Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps in 3D (Don't get any ideas about re-releasing it in 3D, film industry. I'm warning you.) I can name so many movies that were in 3D this year: Clash Of the Titans, Shrek Forever After, Toy Story 3, Despicable Me, Cats & Dogs: The Revenge Of Kitty Galore, My Soul To Take, Resident Evil: Afterlife, Saw: The Final Chapter, Alpha and Omega, Legend Of the Guardians: The Owls Of Ga'hoole and Jack*** 3. How ridiculous is that? Good gosh, what is wrong with the world we live in today? Look, I don't have a problem with having a 3D movie every once in a while. But if you have it every week, I am just ticked off. Enough with the 3D already!

Who Am I?

I am male.
I am in my forties.
I am a former SNL star.
I have been in movies such as Kicking and Screaming and Land Of the Lost.
I usually am an angry character in my movies.
